The Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Discussion Starter Pack was created by Palliative Care Australia (PCA), in partnership with the Congress of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Nurses and Midwives, Australian Indigenous Doctor’s Association, Indigenous Allied Health Australia and others. These resources were developed for Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander peoples, their community, and those working with them.
The Discussion Starter was developed to support people planning for decision-making during sickness.
The resources include a workbook and card pack designed to assist users thinking about what is right for them, as their life journey moves on. It includes items for thinking about individuals, family and community; health care; preparing for discussions; and reviewing discussions. There is also information about identifying decision makers, making a legal will, Advance Care Plan, funeral preparation, and more.
