Palliative care and the handling of death and bereavement are being rethought nationally and internationally. Compassionate Communities is a globally recognised method of improving the end-of-life experience of people by providing support at the local level through local networks, services, and groups.
Members of this network can include friends, neighbours, coworkers, and volunteers who can support their community members in a variety of ways (for example practically, emotionally, socially, culturally, financially, and spiritually). These networks of care demonstrate how dying is everyone’s business.
